The wire from the cable junction box was already existing, running up the side of the house and into the bedroom. I had the luxury of observing a contractor heat up and activate an outlet in my bedroom. So this makes me wonder: how do they go about turning off the TV service, if it's just fed from the same wire that my internet is?
Holy crap, I was getting basic cable, with the same channels that I could get on the cable box (minus the HD stuff) After getting home, I plugged in the cable from the wall directly into the TV. I thought that was the whole point of the cable box, in that it has your customer info and programming subscription data so that you can watch the channels you pay for. The whole time I've been a TWC customer, I had no idea that I could get a television signal from them without a cable box. She advised me that someone would be out to turn off my TV service, but in the meantime before that happened I would still be able to see channels 2-77. I realized she was making a reference to television instead of the cable drop to the house.Īfter getting on the same level, and I was sure she understood we only wanted internet and no television, she set up the "service disconnect."
G: "If we don't cut your cable, you still get channels 2-77." I need it for cable internet." (thinking she was referring to the physical cable itself.) GIRL: "We have to come cut off your cable if you don't want TV." Upon returning the boxes, I had to argue with the lady at the counter a little, when I told her I didn't want TV anymore. We are now only being charged for cable internet at $36.99/month. My wife and I decided to relinquish our two HD DVR cable boxes to Time Warner, after getting fed up with the cost of our service, which was ~$120/month.
