Because falcos run speed isn't great and fox's fastfall is awesome, this is also a great way to overshoot aerials as fox.

For example if you're just lasering in neutral and the fox just full hops over it and nairs you won't have time to dash away. They're so good against Falco if you don't know what to do. Im not a very good Falco but I remember the biggest problem I had was losing to fox's full hop aerials. Widely regarded as incredibly even, what do you all think of it? With all that out of the way, let's get started! Fox vs Falco, the most famous of all the Melee matchups. If you want to weigh in on a specific matchup, PM me and I'll let you know when to expect that thread. The main sub might be every other day, depending on how active discussion of the matchup is. The DDT will have new discussions every day. Edit: We'll make it the top 8 and include ICs. For the other 19 characters, I'll have a thread going in the DDT to discuss. The only threads in the main sub will be threads involving two of those 7 characters. I'll only be doing big threads for 7 characters: Fox, Falco, Marth, Sheik, Peach, Puff, and Falcon.

Both sides please weigh in, we'd all love to hear tools on both sides of the matchup. We're discussing what tools the characters have, not how well have they placed in tournaments.Įach matchup is only going to come up once. We're not looking for matchup numbers here, just "even" "slight advantage" or "heavy advantage." In the case of something like Bowser-Sheik, "unwinnable" may be acceptable, but I expect those will be pretty rare. We're looking for two things here: What tools the characters have and Who plays the matchup well. We'll be going one matchup at a time, discussing the tools each side has, as well as where the advantage lies. My goal over the next month or so is to try to compile a single list of resources for people to work on their gameplans, instead of digging through old reddit threads, smashboards archives, pastebin text, or whatever else the community has used.

True combos mean that they hit no matter what DI if you perform them right (Like fox upthrow-upair or marth upthrow-uptilt at certain percents), and I'm fairly sure multiple uptilts aren't one, unless you add grabs in between, and even then not 5.I have official approval from our very own nanchoman, so let's get this thing started. On falcon I can see it making some longer chains just since he's heavier and has a bigger hit box but I still find it hard to imagine 5 if the DI is right.Ģ0XX CPUs often prioritise random DI unless he's set it to DI one way only, and I don't think there's a setting for optimal DI (that'd be a little too complex I think.) It's entirely possible the 20XX cpu isn't DI ing well.

For example, anything below 35% on a spacie doesn't really combo unless they DI wrongly, and even at the dreaded 40-60%, a DI-down-and-in can make uptilt not chain into itself, sending the spacie backwards at an awkward angle (Which can be regrabbed if they were upthrown first, but you're talking about raw uptilt). I would say it depends on percentage and whether its Falcon or spacies (weight matters hella). Could be wrong as I'm a pretty low level marth here, but I think that's a really iffy generalization and way too vague.
